St. Peter’s Epiphany Around the World
St. Peter's Episcopal Church - Lago Vista Celebrates Epiphany With Multi-Cultural Luncheon
According to the church calendar January 6th is observed as a festival known as Epiphany in commemoration of the coming of the Magi (the Wise Men) as the first manifestation in the recognition of the birth of Christ. This year Epiphany Sunday – the Sunday closest to the 6th fell on January 9th. On that day St. Peter's Episcopal Church celebrated Epiphany with a multi-cultural luncheon highlighting foods from around the world. Fourteen countries were adopted by families in the church. Each family compiled research on their country’s traditions, cooked their food and brought it to share at the luncheon after services. We enjoyed food from Switzerland, Croatia, Poland, Thailand, Italy, Germany, United States of America, Ethiopia, Poland, Columbia, Mexico, Greece, France, and the United Kingdom.
This is the first time that we have celebrated Epiphany in this way. We had so much fun that we plan to do it again next year. So mark your calendars now and make plans to join us to celebrate Epiphany - Jesus is Born.
