St. Peter's

                                Episcopal Church

History

In the mid 1980s, a small group of Lago Vista Episcopalians began meeting and worshiping in the home of the Reverend and Mrs. David C. Penticuff. As they grew, they moved to five different places of worship.

In 1991, a group of church leaders, with the help of the Diocese of Texas, purchased approximately three acres on one of Lago Vista’s highest points. Construction began and groundbreaking ceremonies were held October 20, 1991.

On April 12, 1992, the 2,800-square-foot building was consecrated and dedicated by The Right Reverend Maurice M. Benitez, Bishop of Texas. The church building was designed for 125 worshipers.

In 1993, St. Peter’s Memorial Garden was completed beneath a canopy of live oaks and with a breathtaking view of Lake Travis and the Hill Country. A six-foot wooden cross is mounted on a pedestal of stone to serve as the focal point of a flagstone patio with benches and a circulating fountain.

The church’s Parish Hall was built in 1997. The 5,700-square-foot building is used for meeting space, offices, and classrooms.
